Overview

The Sr. Manager, Merchandising Services oversees the operations of the merchandising services and schematics departments. This position provides leadership over merchandising, helps guide processes, troubleshoots problems and initiates new programs within the company. The Sr. Manager, Merchandising Services reports to the Director, Merchandising Schematics and works cross-functionally with other departments including Buying, IT and Finance, while maintaining relationships with the vendor/broker community.

Essential Functions

  • Acts as liaison between senior leadership across all related departments. Engages peers across departments to ensure consistency and open communication as it relates to merchandising and schematics.
  • Meets deadlines while adapting to frequently shifting priorities.
  • Assists with special projects and initiatives as required.
  • Identifies problems and gaps at the program or system level and recommends alternative solutions.
  • Identifies potential efficiencies and provides back-up during peak workload periods.
  • Runs reports using MS Excel and other software and reporting tools.
  • Supports fact-based and objective decision making that drives favorable business outcomes.
  • Works closely with buying teams to implement schematic requirements and concepts while delivering consumer-focused results.
  • Works with buying team and other relevant stakeholders to measure current categories against industry standards in an effort to develop the best mix for Sprouts customers.
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of in-depth analysis of various data sets, including trends, etc.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by seeking out best practices, reviewing professional publications and benchmarking emerging practices.
  • Ensures compliance for all aspects of the 3rd party reset program.
  • Ensures vendor fair share billings are on time and accurate.
  • Cultivates strong vendor and broker relationships within the geographies Sprouts operates in.
  • Adheres to Sprouts policies and procedures with respect to proprietary information and encourages others to do the same.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in merchandising, space planning, schematics or related function.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • A deep knowledge of or experience in the natural foods industry preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in the MS Office Suite including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with multiple cross-functional team members.
  • Must be well organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks and request simultaneously; project management experience a plus.
  • Experience with EYC Symphony/Apollo schematics software or comparable schematics software programs.
  • Strong knowledge of the fundamental concepts and processes to support schematic development, assortment management and retail implementation.
  • Ability to comfortably engage in vendor, category manager and corporate meetings.
