Overview

Provides Employee Relations (ER) advice and policy interpretation to Managers and TMs and is responsible for overall ER case management; counsels managers on individual performance issues and conducts investigations as needed. Serve as primary ER partner for HRAs which must be demonstrated by strong sphere of influence on management on all ER matters coupled with key role in HRA initiatives including Employee Engagement.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for partnering with all Human Resources Advisors (HRAs).
  • Responsible for ensuring effective communication of business strategies and Policies changes with HRAs, Legal and HR Compliance.
  • Support the HRAs as needed in creating, executing and monitoring a local ER strategy.
  • Audit policies and practices and take necessary actions to ensure compliance with local and federal employee relations laws.
  • Anticipate or identify and respond to issues that indicate a negative work environment; work with the HRAs, Legal and Compliance, as appropriate.
  • Develop and analyze data reports from HRIS, employment records, operations or other sources to drive strategic employee relations decisions in the local unit.
  • Deliver education to management and TMs to promote a positive work environment and minimize risk of TM-related issues (where subject matter expertise is required).
  • Advise/assist/counsel managers in identifying and resolving TM issues; keep the HRAs informed.
  • Advise/assist/counsel TMs regarding ER issues.
  • Responsible for responding to both routine and non-routine ER inquiries from TMs and manage individual ER cases through resolution.
  • Conduct investigations in response to TM or manager incidents and complaints; involve appropriate departments as needed.
  • Promptly refer complex cases requiring field investigation to appropriate HRA through case management system.
  • Develop documentation in response to an employment-related issue, charge or claim.
  • Utilize Human Resources Advisor expertise for additional support and guidance where needed.
  • Manage Compliance Poster Initiative for entire Company.
  • Administer Exit Survey Program, including analysis and communication to leadership.
  • Responsible for the administration of the Background and Drug Screening Program, including adjudication of background results.
  • Oversee the Rehire Eligibility Program

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or business related field (equivalent work experience considered).
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in HR or employment law desired with a demonstrated track record in an employee relations/employment law role.
  • Knowledge of HR principles and practices and extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements desired.
  • Applicable experiences in innovative ER approaches, risk management and policy development, interpretation and application are essential.
  • Must be well organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks and requests.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, negotiation and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to interact well with all organizational levels as well as vendors.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Integrity - maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential.
  • Excellent presentation skills required.
