The EDI Analyst is responsible for maintaining productive communications with Sprouts business partners, using EDI tools provided by an EDI Value Added Network. The EDI Analyst will work extensively with our third party EDI vendor, our internal Information Technology (IT) staff and other team members to ensure the EDI program is working as intended. Daily activities performed by the EDI Analyst include serving as the initial contact for troubleshooting inquiries, monitoring document transmissions, and identifying opportunities to improve relevant processes. This position will perform audits to ensure quality standards are being met on a regular basis, and will be responsible for conducting training to keep staff up to date on technology changes.

Essential Functions

  • Administer the receiving and sending of EDI documents and perform troubleshooting on processes to resolve all transmission and data problems
  • Monitor reporting provided by third party EDI vendor to ensure data is successfully flowing between Sprouts, our third party EDI vendor and our suppliers
  • Coordinate with third party EDI vendor and suppliers to set up new processes to provide optimal levels of customer service
  • Manage service calls and provide technological support to resolve issues on inbound and outbound data
  • Assist with any internal set-ups required to enable EDI (flag vendors for PO, PO Changes, ASN, Invoices, etc.)
  • Primary point of contact for internal resource questions (Example: Did my PO get to my vendor? The vendor says they sent their Invoice but it is not in our system)
  • Primary point of contact for third party EDI vendor resources (Example: Sprouts business related questions that the third party EDI vendor is trying to answer)
  • Use supply chain analytics tools provided to measure key KPIs across vendor community
  • Notify third party EDI vendor of any new suppliers that need to be on-boarded and assist in any messaging to the supplier
  • Provide direction and maintain accurate training guides with third party EDI vendor for the EDI and System Administration functions
  • Lead and/or support continuous improvement initiatives for EDI; uses best practices and awareness of internal or external business issues to improve service level
  • Other areas they may also play a role is in identifying and working through data quality issues with suppliers that are not related to EDI. (Incorrect item identifiers, missing transactions, item attribute updates, pricing updates, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands on related EDI experience within a retail environment. Grocery retail would be a plus.
  • Proven track record as an EDI Analyst with experience in writing requirements and analyzing EDI data. This resource should be able to determine when something is a technical EDI issue or a data issue and possess the troubleshooting skills to determine the root cause and recommend a solution.
  • Working knowledge of EDI software applications, protocols, transactions, methods, tools and business processes
  • Working knowledge of communication methods: Value Added Networks (VANs), AS2, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP and other communication protocols
  • Working knowledge of SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Experienced in providing support to IT and business leads – with a high-level of professionalism
  • Should have good interpersonal skills to deal with external vendor community and internal team members
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of senior managers, project steering committees and customers
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
  • Must have strong written skills, with the ability to convey clear and concise thoughts and ideas
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Experience in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to competently understand, speak, read and write English
