The Senior Manager of IT Platforms and Applications will lead application development teams and/or projects with the Platforms and Applications team. The teams or projects will be increasingly more complex, with larger budgets, and with more of an enterprise impact. The Senior Manager is expected to have a strong technical domain knowledge and have already managed resources and complex projects.  

Essential Functions

  • Provides quality assured software development, platform configuration(s)/integration(s) and customized application solutions which include proposal and contract preparation, cost/benefit analysis, requirements, design, programming/implementation, testing and ongoing support.
  • Implements, manages and supports corporate business applications.
  • Provides Quality Assurance and integrated implementation for internal and third party systems.
  • Manages projects, ensures they meet expectations for quality, timeliness and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manages and directs team to provide development and processes to support initiatives.
  • Oversees the allocation of resources to both development projects and sustainment services.
  • Builds partnerships within the business unit and with other functional and technical areas.
  • Reviews/audits projects managed by junior management team members (e.g. Manager)
  • Work closely with the leadership teams to ensure proper coordination of activities and resources within the organization.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent additional experience in a related discipline (e.g., information technology, computer science, business, engineering).
  • 5+ years proven personnel management and project management including medium to large-scale application/platform implementation projects.
  • Experience selecting, implementing and supporting multiple platforms and business application solutions (i.e. ITSM, Intranet Portals, ERPs, CRM, Document Management Systems, Business Intelligence Tools, and Cloud Solutions). 
  • Experience managing development teams required.
  • Strong understanding of API’s and systems integration approaches.
  • Ability to lead high-level discussion on technology strategy and approach.
  • Ability to verbally and visually present complex concepts and technical information to a non-technical audience in a clear and concise fashion.
  • Ability to provide input and guidance to senior management necessary to meet the strategic long-term goals relative to technology direction.



Technical Skills:

  • Experience with SharePoint portals/sites preferred.
  • Ability to effectively use and operate a PC and standard business applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
  • Adept at change management and release management policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of ITIL V3 desirable.
  • Familiar with software version control/code repository solutions.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of senior managers, project steering committees and customers.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.
  • Requires excellent negotiation and facilitation skills.
