The IT Project Manager 2 is responsible for planning, estimating, providing day-to-day management, leadership, direction, and administration across the full project lifecycle (planning through implementation/delivery) of 1 large complex project OR multiple, concurrent medium sized projects, and accomplishing project objectives within the constraints of scope, schedule, cost, and quality. The IT Project Manager 2 participates in the planning, directing, coordination, and monitoring of activities pertaining to projects. This includes serving as the liaison between technical and non-technical departments, working collaboratively to ensure that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives, and managing the team that develops and executes projects for assigned business unit(s).

Essential Functions

  • Accomplish project objectives within the constraints of scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Develop project plans/schedules, monitor progress against project plans/schedules, publish updated project plans/schedules and revise plans/schedules to reflect delays, issues, and changes in scope.
  • Manage and direct assigned project resources to best meet project objectives.
  • Develop and implement organization structure for each project including roles and responsibilities for each member of the project team.
  • Manage and monitor day-to-day activity and provide direction to project team members and supporting organizations.
  • Develop supporting project management plans such as scope, cost, risk, schedule, quality, resource, procurement, and change management plans.
  • Review and escalate changes affecting scope, schedule, cost, and/or quality to project Sponsors and Director, as required.
  • Log all issues and risks. Escalate, when necessary, project issues and risks to project Sponsors, including impact and mitigation assessments and proposals.
  • Perform all project communication, including status reporting, risk management, and escalation of issues.
  • Make information defined in communication plans available to project stakeholders
  • Develop project budget and update budget periodically with actual expenses.
  • Secure acceptance and approval of deliverables from the project Sponsor and stakeholders.
  • Conduct post-mortem session and document lessons learned.
  • Insure that all project deliverables and artifacts are stored and maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

  • 5+ years proven experience managing medium to large projects.

  • Extensive MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook) experience.
  • Expert understanding of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Discipline (Integration, Scope, Time, Quality, Human Resources, Communications, Risk Management, Procurement)
  • Expert understanding of and experience with software development and infrastructure project lifecycles, and business planning, with a proven track record of success in multiple, complex projects
  • Strong project team leadership, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build a strong network and relationships across Technology functions and the business units
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, multi-task across many assignments
  • Ability to assess the impact of new project requirements on an existing team workload
  • Ability to assess and resolve complex business problems/issues/risks and facilitate conflict management, issue resolution, and risk mitigation
  • Strong planning and estimating skills
  • Competency using processes and tools required to perform required duties and tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple quickly changing and competing priorities.
  • Experience creating business requirements, project plans, project schedules, and associated project materials.
  • 5+ years minimum experience in technical project management
  • 5+ years minimum experience in a professional services environment exhibiting proven client management, relationship development, analytical and problem solving skills, and end-to-end experience with methodologies.
  • 5+ years minimum experience developing business solutions with a variety of tools
  • Four year degree or equivalent additional experience in a related discipline (e.g., information technology, computer science, business, engineering).
  • PMI PMP certification desirable.
