The Culinary Intern supports the Director of Culinary in all relevant areas of the business including vendor communication, pricing, marketing accuracy, deadline management and reporting. The Culinary Intern also supports collaborative objectives with other departments including procurement, merchandising, marketing and pricing.

Essential Functions

  • Assists Director of Culinary with vendor coordination and communication, recipe creation, food costing, reformulations, pricing, marketing accuracy and deadline management.
  • Assists stores, field management and store support partners with departmental inquiries and issues.
  • Responds to vendor/customer issues as needed and in a timely manner.
  • Supports the production and communication of merchandising plans and directives.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Coordinates and sources vendor participation in new store openings and store resets.
  • Tracks vendor deliveries, shortages, missed deliveries and late deliveries.
  • Assists with maintaining test kitchen, including cleaning, restocking and supply purchasing.
  • Assists with bi-annual menu book production.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

  • Currently attending an accredited college, university or culinary school with a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years food industry or grocery experience.
  • Must be able to contribute a minimum of 20 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
  • Reliable transportation to our headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona and surrounding flagship stores.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter, able to support multiple demands.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
