The Regional Vitamin Trainer is responsible for overseeing, training and assisting the Vitamin department for the locations of the given region. This position uses company policies, procedures and goals to ensure the departments are running efficiently; working closely with department managers ensuring effective operations and utilization of our company culture in daily tasks. The Regional Vitamin Trainer reports directly to the Regional Director.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the success and profitability of all Vitamin departments within assigned Region by analyzing P&L, margins and other financial tools and implementing plans to ensure financial goals are met
  • Ensures the departments consistently and efficiently achieve company and department requirements for merchandising, inventory balances, store conditions, and customer service
  • Inspects sales reports, wage reports, P&L reports, and other financial reports in order to identify deficiencies
  • Partner with the store manager and department managers to initiate appropriate, timely action that will bring the deficiencies back within standard
  • Acts as a liaison between stores and the operations, buying and marketing teams
  • Ensures all Marketing and Operational directives are being communicated and implemented at store level as well as the Regional Trainer level
  • Conduct meetings, conference calls and training sessions on a regular basis with stores
  • Provide information and support to stores on new items, holidays, merchandising and quality standards
  • Oversee Educate and Enrich training with all department team members
  • Train department in keeping shrink within acceptable budgeted guidelines
  • Train and oversee compliance of sanitation and food safety policies and procedures
  • Train and develop merchandising techniques to optimize financial performance
  • Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops
  • Assists in ensuring department managers embrace the requirements of their job, do their job correctly with high skill, and achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively on their own initiative
  • Assists in developing managers and staff that will be qualified candidates for promotion
  • Influences the selection, promotion, demotion or termination of Department Managers in their region
  • Embraces the company values and creates an excellent example for team members
  • Communicates effectively with the Home Office and the Regional Director of Operations to facilitate the achievement of objectives for the store departments in their region
  • Conducts monthly competition price surveys as directed by the support office
  • Set up new stores and remodels, implement programs and objectives and train new store team members

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; preferred Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years combined experience with POS, scanning and receiving systems in grocery retail
  • Minimum three (3) years of management experience
  • Skilled in adult learning concepts with ability to deliver effective and relevant training
  • Experience in training materials and program development
  • Willing/able to travel up to 75 % of year
  • Knowledge and experience with pricing, receiving/inventory management, and POS systems such as: DMA, Access Via, Web Design Shop, and ISS45; or other related programs
  • Must be able to adapt to new software
  • Strong background in staff training and development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
