  • Overview

    The Senior Advertising Design Specialist serves as lead in the development of advertising layouts in-house based off of the weekly ad circular and other promotions. This position works closely with the Advertising Production Manager, Advertising Design support team and Media Specialist in managing and completing projects with strict deadlines. This position will also confer with the Creative and Production teams to ensure that all projects are aligned and consistent.  

    Essential Functions

    • Executes the production of the monthly flyer from start to finish, working closely with sales & merchandising, brand, creative and data integrity teams
    • Drive the incorporation of approved designs into all necessary grand opening and promotional print advertisements, billboards, etc. based on provided schedule
    • Responsible for designs and layouts of print ad materials based on knowledge of layout principles, typography and design concepts
    • Develop or acquire illustrations, graphics & images for production pieces, discussing them with clients and supervisors and making necessary changes
    • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type
    • Proactively provide design solutions that meet the needs of the business. Present, obtain feedback and incorporate changes recommended by the clients, supervisors and/or creative lead into the final design
    • Assemble and prepare final layouts for printers
    • Review final layout and suggest improvements as needed before printing or publishing
    • Maintain archive of images, photos and previous work products

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

    • Preferred Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design/visual communications or a related field with minimum of three-four (3-4) years of experience in graphic design or acceptable combination of experience and education
    • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign)    
    • Must have experience using Mac Platform
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
    • Strong conceptual and creative thinking skills, as well as a solid knowledge of typography, color theory, design systems and layout principles
    • Experience with dynamic ad builders is a plus
    • Working knowledge of the current print industry and trends
    • Good understanding of marketing principles, social media and photography
    • Experience and understanding of how to represent a consumer brand well across a variety of communication channels
    • Ability to follow and respond effectively and appropriately to creative direction, maintain brand standards and work collaboratively
    • Ability to demonstrate resourcefulness, accountability, consistency and outstanding attention to detail
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred
