  • Overview

    The primary responsibility of the Accounts Payable Supervisor is to manage the assigned Accounts Payable Coordinators to ensure accurate payment processing in accordance with the company’s internal control processes, policies and procedures. The Supervisor will be responsible for the daily operation of the Accounts Payable group.  Daily responsibilities include management of high-volume vendor payments, check requests, vendor setup and employee expense reports, as well as daily system interfaces and EFT payments.  The ideal candidate should be process oriented, have solid leadership, communication and organizational skills as well as be willing to lead by example to ensure that Sprouts vendors receive timely and accurate payments.

    Essential Functions

    • Daily management of the Accounts Payable Staff and their assigned duties.
    • Provide training to all staff in operational policy and procedure areas related to Accounts Payable in accordance with established internal guidelines and SOX policies.
    • Ensure the consistent and accurate performance of audit procedures to include vendor verification, invoice coding, timely receipt and proper approval of invoices.
    • Develop, review and maintain AP documentation to support external and internal audit requirements.
    • Supervise staff and monitor their work product for efficiency and accuracy.
    • Act as a change manager in the continuous improvement of the department by taking a proactive approach to common business practices and opportunities.
    • Make value added recommendations for areas of responsibility.
    • Vendor Management including 1099 preparation; vendor entry into the system; vendor support; vendor analysis and vendor reconciliation with AP totals and GL.
    • Ensure timely and complete review of accounts payable data resulting in accurate capture, recording and maintenance of the data and timely and accurate payment to vendors. 
    • Upload daily, weekly, and monthly detail files to the A/P system and General ledger in accordance with the reporting and payment requirements of the business.
    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of Travel and Entertainment expenses.
    • Develop annual key performance objectives and performance reviews for direct report staff.
    • Other tasks as assigned by management.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a closely related business field with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Accounts Payable, with a minimum of three (1) years of experience in a leadership/supervisory/managerial role. Specific experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
    • Demonstrated success with complex process ownership, SOX compliance accountabilities including ownership of key controls, financial/process systems ownership, and successful interface and partnerships with operations, vendors, finance and IT.
    • Experience in business process transformation and/or AP systems implementation
    • Wide-ranging business financial process knowledge and skills in overseeing processes with numerous stakeholder and linkages.
    • Experience working with Workday financials or ERP Accounts Payable System
    • Ability to collaborate with all levels of management and employees.
    • Ability to work with considerable independence with heavy accountabilities.
    • Demonstrated experience with Accounts Payable process review, analysis and improvement
