  • Overview

    The Department Specialist, Vitamin/HBA supports department merchandising and category management for all assigned areas. This position will assist in the management of detailed pricing strategies, support weekly and seasonal promotional planning and execution, and help construct and communicate comprehensive business reporting tools and analytics to optimize performance. The Department Specialist will work cross functionally with the Supply Chain, Operations and Finance Teams to support and manage the development and tracking of key department objectives and initiatives for growth.

    Essential Functions

    • Creates and distributes weekly, period, and quarterly performance metrics and category reports
    • Provides regular reporting and detailed analysis against key department sales tactics and initiatives
    • Assists in the development and communication of weekly promotional materials and layouts
    • Supports the sales merchandising teams through development and management of key business tools (display and merchandising archives, promotional history and forecasting, sales incentive recaps, etc.)
    • Supports the weekly collection and management of competitive market audits to ensure consistency in pricing strategies and achievement of retail position goals
    • Manages weekly retail pricing for designated regions, markets, and/or stores
    • Support category management and retail merchandising in the development of merchandising plans and schematics that drive increased share and category growth
    • Participates in regular retail market audits to ensure pricing, quality, and merchandising execution is at the required levels
    • Supports the development of short and long term category plans for the purpose of identifying sales and profit opportunities while capitalizing on market gaps or intrinsic department strengths
    • Other related duties as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

    • Bachelor Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Two (2) years of experience related to perishable retail purchasing, marketing and/or merchandising
    • Supermarket Grocery experience required
    • Requires outstanding communication skills amongst a strong interpersonal attitude that demonstrates organization, multi-tasking and prioritization
    • Requires experience in Microsoft Suite, with a high level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • High degree of creativity and ability to work independently
