  • Overview

    The Video Editing Specialist will be responsible for assembling recorded material into a finished product suitable for intended channels. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects. This position will work closely with the Videographer and creative strategists to create new and engaging videos that represent the brand accordingly.

     

    The ideal candidate must have a thorough knowledge of videography and design with strong conceptual and production skills, along with the ability to execute all projects from concept to completion. Duties will include but not be limited to: Assisting in the planning and shooting of video shoots, including the preparation of shot lists; filming basic interview videos and b-roll of various action scenes; capturing audio with shotgun and lav mics; determining lighting; editing videos; compressing and preparing videos for various usage; uploading videos to be used online; shooting with consultants and third parties; and the ongoing management and archival of video projects.

     

    It is important for the Video Editing Specialist to be able to implement established brand guidelines while still innovating and pushing the boundaries. The ideal candidate must have the ability to take direction, incorporate creative feedback and work well within a team environment. This position will also have multiple day-to-day responsibilities that are time-sensitive and require a high level of attention to detail.

     

    The candidate should have previous success working in the digital environment with video, audio, and editing equipment and software. They should be comfortable working under short deadlines on multiple projects for a variety of initiatives.

     

    This position strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical. Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.

    Essential Functions

    • Ingest, log, organize, edit, deliver, and archive all video projects as directed
    • Utilize various video, audio, and lighting equipment to achieve desired results
    • Responsible for maintaining the proper care of all video, audio, and editing equipment
    • Stay up-to-date on all current and emerging technologies as it relates to their field
    • Assist in the production of video shoots as directed

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or extensive experience
    • Comprehensive knowledge of computer editing systems, software and related equipment
    • Strong understanding of capturing quality audio using related equipment & mastering audio in final edit.
    • Extensive knowledge and experience with professional codecs (XVAC, AVCHD, ProRes, and CineForm), DSLR cameras, and LED lighting equipment
    • Strong understanding of lighting, color, and white balance
    • Ability to determine proper video resolution/frame rates and compression for optimal playback over internal network, external online sites, and event/broadcast specifications
    • Knowledge and experience working with Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator
    • Knowledge and experience After Effects CS6
    • Ability to create and implement simple, clean text-based animations and shape graphics
    • Knowledge of KYELIGHT in After Effects is a plus
    • Experience working in Red Giant Universe is a plus
    • Experience working in Lumetri color panel is a plus
    • Strong knowledge and practical understanding of video codecs/containers and their limitations/capabilities
    • Basic understanding of sound mixing and editing within Premiere and Audition
    • Basic understanding of Essential Graphics panel & round tripping between Premiere and After Effects
    • Must be proficient on the MAC platform
    • Strong conceptual and creative thinking skills
    • Good understanding of marketing principles, social media and photography
    • Knowledge in developing creative concepts and campaigns
    • Knowledgeable in current design trends
    • Ability to follow creative direction, maintain brand standards and work collaboratively. Ability to respond effectively and appropriately to creative feedback.
    • Ability to keep large video projects organized within a strict file structure
    • Experience and understanding of how to represent a consumer brand well across a variety of communication channels.
    • Ability to demonstrate resourcefulness, accountability and outstanding attention to detail.
