    The Schematic Specialist/Analyst assists in the management of analytical databases and programs while providing support to the Schematic Technology Manager. They also perform category reviews which uses predefined templates in MS Excel and Symphony EYC Space Planning. They assess schematic assortment performance and make recommended improvements. This includes accommodating decisions for new and discontinued items, working closely with the Category Manager, the Schematic Technology Manager and supplier partners. Analytical skill and experience developed in this role provide important insight into assortment performance and future modifications. The Schematic Analyst also develops and maintains financial and other reports to display progress of the department.

    Essential Functions

    • Works with Category Managers to implement their schematic requirements and concepts while delivering consumer based results that are easy to shop and replenish
    • Address SKU rationalization requirements
    • Guide assortment decisions for new and discontinued items
    • Produce pre-defined reports for the category review
    • Assess the opportunities for schematic updates based on the template diagnostics
    • Understand the Category Manager’s layout objectives
    • Determine the financial strengths and weaknesses of a particular category
    • Provide recommendations for improvement
    • Develop a schematic that balances space to sales, simplifies replenishment, and provides an easy-to-shop design
    • Work to implement the correct schematics and versions to the appropriate stores
    • Conduct the analytical requirements of schematic development and support the category review process to remain on schedule
    • Load the correct and complete information into the schematic template
    • Build and develop new schematic layouts/versions required
    • Identify over and under spaced schematic sections and be able to make recommendations
    • Work with computer systems to better master assigned categories and programs
    • Experience with Symphony EYC Space Planning software or comparable schematics software programs.
    • Thorough knowledge of SPINS system and SPINS reporting
    • Run reports and queries, MS Excel and other software and reporting tools
    • Improve financial productivity in a continuous fashion using the Symphony EYC Space Planning & SPINS capabilities and insights gained by ongoing analysis of all schematics
    • Support fact-based and objective decisions that produce the best results
    • Work in partnership to design a category, segment, or store layout using the insight gained from category reviews
    • Develop new reports to define and improve the process and better relay the information required by people involved
    • Work with peers and the Schematics Manager to meet deadlines, deliver quality and accuracy in analytics and output using the approved Category Review Schedule
    • Share insights and skills to help the team meet their performance and support requirements
    • Work with the Schematics Technology Manager to develop mutual growth and a stimulating work environment within the Sprouts buying team.
    • Create schematics that can be implemented quickly and are easy to utilize
    • Work within the implementation process to deliver timely schematics to the stores
    • Address the need for stores that require additional schematic versions
    • Ensure that the core assortment is maintained across all schematic versions
    • Continually address questions that stores or vendors may have in regards to schematic design
    • Perform analysis on departments to determine optimal space
    • Work with analytical programs to analyze data to determine space to sales ratios
    • Make proposals based off of analytical programs for future new stores as well as pre-existing stores
    • Work with Category Managers and the SPINS on-site group to compare current categories with industry standards to develop the best mix for the consumers.
    • Creating reports to improve overall processes at Sprouts
    • Create opening product orders for new store development
    • Assist in developing databases that help streamline information flow from the Schematic Department to the Directors, Category Managers, stores, and vendor partners

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

    • Preferred Bachelor Degree with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in merchandising and a strong knowledge of the Natural Foods industry; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
    • Strong knowledge of the fundamental concepts and processes to support schematic development, assortment management and retail implementation
    • Ability to comfortably engage in vendor, Category Manager and corporate meetings
    • Excellent computer skills with a working proficiency with MS Office Suite including advanced skill in MS Excel and Symphony EYC Space Planning programs.
    • Good analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to prioritize, manage and complete multiple assignments and meetings
    • Meet deadlines while adapting to regularly changing work priorities
    • Demonstrates proficient verbal and written communications skills
    • Ability to work independently and with multiple cross functional team members
